We all love our pets, right? We would do anything we could to save them or protect them from harm. Just like a lot of rescue centres in the UK, Barking Mad Dog Rescue (registered UK charity 1160985) rely on item/food donations and funds to continue to help dogs over in Romania. Romania has one of the highest number of dogs love in such devastating conditions due to neglect, or sitting waiting in a public shelters waiting to be unlawfully killed. Yep, that’s right – hundreds of dogs get killed via lethal injection if they are still in a public shelter after 14 days. The injection isn’t always quick, nor is it (as I’m sure you can guess by now) humane or in the dogs’ best interest. Many of the dogs in Romania have been at the hands of abuse, torture, or merely disowned because they’re no longer wanted – and yes, that does include puppies. The conditions these dogs are living in is heart-breaking, so when there are fairy dog mothers and fairy dog fathers, like Barking Mad Dog Rescue, going out of their way to help save those dogs and find them their forever homes despite just being volunteers themselves, it certainly makes you think about wanting to help.
I’m usually a ‘charity begins at home’ kind of person, but after watching the videos and seeing the pictures of the dogs on Barking Mad Dog Rescue website, even I knew that I had to find some way of helping them (aside from the obvious of rehoming a dog). This brings me nicely to this post.
I am lucky to have a lot of signed books in my possession, even luckier when I find that I have two of the same book signed. Today I am taking that book out of my own collection, and putting it up for auction to raise money for Barking Mad Dog Rescue.
As you can see by the picture above, the book has been signed via a signed book plate, with the book being sent to me via the publisher themselves.
For those who are interested, here is the blurb of the book:
Abi has been given the second chance she never expected: she’s in remission. Now she’s trying to get her life – and her family – back on track after facing the worst. But it’s hard to trust in happiness again, and reconnecting with her husband John proves more challenging than she thought. Can you really go back to ‘normal’ after thinking you’re going to lose one another?
With Abi’s son Seb struggling with a secret of his own, the three of them are in danger of falling apart just when they need each other most. But how do you pick up the pieces of a family still suffering emotional shockwaves? And can Abi bring the people she loves most in the world back together again… before it’s too late?
How is the auction going to work?
Well, the bidding will be done via the comments to this blog post, with a minimum starting bid of £5.00. As simple as the sounds, the highest bidder at the end of the auction will win the book. Postage of the book will be done via me (as I have the book) for an additional cost of £2.95 which will also be donated to BMDR. The auction will start tonight, Wednesday 16th May 2018, and will end at 11.59pm on Wednesday 23rd May 2018. The winner of the auction will need to pay the winning bid within 48 hours, and proof of the donation to BMDR will be sent to the winning bidder afterwards.
*Please note: This auction is mine and mine alone, and is in no way associated with the publisher who gifted me the book, or the author. Any details given to me regarding the auction will not be used for anything else and will not be held once the auction and payment has completed. If the winning bid can no longer pay, the auction goes to the second highest bidder.
