Last but not least, the fourth and final blog tour of the day is for ‘Night By Night’ by Jack Jordan. Thank you to Kirsty and Corvus Books for the blog tour invite and ARC. Here is my review:
What does TWG think?
Isn’t it funny, just how much we take having a good nights sleep, for granted? Theres one thing waking up in the night to relieve your bladder and then going back to the land of nod, and then there’s being unable to sleep for nights on end despite being so tired, your concentration ends on dipping. Rose, more than most people, knows the consequences of being an insomniac. Shes know how not having full concentration behind the wheel can lead to heartbreaking conclusions; something which she will beating herself up for, for the rest of her life.
Rose has a very weather like personality. By that I mean it changes very frequently, going from one extreme to the other. Some might say that her personality is the same as Scottish weather but, as an Essex bird living in Scotland, you didn’t hear that from me!
So, Rose found a journal. It wasn’t hers. All she knew was that it belonged to a man named Finn. A man who, judging by what was written on the pages, had been suffering at the hands of someone extremely sinister. Who that ‘someone’ was however, Rose was determined to find out. Has history come back to bite her on the behind? Can she now finally clear her conscience regarding her brother, Jay?
I was a bit confused at how the car situation with Rose fit in with the whole Finn and journal situation – it felt like two completely different storylines in one.
That aside, I was utterly gripped by what Rose was trying to find out, and extremely appalled by the way people treated others for their choices. The fact that murders were committed because of how certain genders chose to live their life and with whom, chilled me to the bone and left me feeling sick. It’s not that I was ignorant to the fact that things like that went on, I just couldn’t believe the lengths people went to. In all honesty, it makes me extremely ashamed of the human race. Let people live with and love whomever they choose – what’s it to anyone else?!
‘Night By Night’ is such a chilling, and powerful read which sheds light on a very important and eye opening subject. Jack Jordan didn’t gloss over the themes at all, in fact he described them in such eye watering and earth shattering detail, I was genuinely moved and shocked by what I read.
Despite feeling uncomfortable at times, I flew through the book like nobodys business! I thought it was a brilliant, brilliant read. I was blown away by the thrilling atmosphere, chilling revenge, intense emotion, and powerful storytelling from Jack Jordan. My mind was a mess when I finished reading ‘Night By Night’, but I can honestly say that it was a book which I am so glad to have read.
A psychologically brilliant, atmospheric and gripping read which blew my mind.
