Six months after the stabbing of fifteen-year-old Deanna Miller, someone is coming after the teenagers of Stockleigh, as a spate of vicious assaults rocks this small community. Revenge for Deanna? Or something more?

Detective Eden Berrisford is locked into a race against time to catch the twisted individual behind the attacks – but when her own niece, Jess Mount, goes missing, the case gets personal.

With the kidnapper threatening Jess’ life, can Eden bring back her niece to safety? Or will the people of Stockleigh be forced to mourn another daughter…?

What does TWG think?

Forgive me Mel, for I have….sinned? Please don’t be writing me into your next book as a ‘going, going, gone’ style character as I hadn’t read any of your other gritty crime books before I read this one! I know, truly ashamed. However, oh my gooooodness!!!!! What a book to start with of Mel’s!

A teenage girl has been stabbed. Someone’s daughter. Someone’s friend…stabbed. Unfortunately, the attacks don’t seem to end there. Someone is out for blood, literally, and it doesn’t seem to matter who’s it is. Or does it? Detective Eden Berrisford is the brains behind the case and is determined to get to the bottom of the attacks. The thing is, it’s about to get a whole lot personal…

I don’t think the trail of goosebumps ever left my arms while I was reading this book. The fast paced, intense storyline kept me on my toes and my nerves nearly at breaking point. Not only has Mel Sherratt written about horrific murders and gangs, she has written about a Detective with feelings. One that isn’t afraid to show who she really is. Despite the sensitive side of Detective Eden, she just oozes sass and feistiness. If I could long to be a character from a book, I would LOVE to be her!

At first I did feel a bit overwhelmed as we are thrown straight into the storyline and having a lot of information to digest as well as trying to keep up with unfolding events. However, you need to set the scene before you delve into the ‘whodunnits’, so that is exactly what Mel has done. I was just a tad slow on realising that at the time.

The storyline hops from one thing to another with such grace and intensity; I was truly amazed by the ease of which it all pieced together like a jigsaw puzzle. Especially given the realistic feel with many of the scenes. Genius.

A nail-biting and stomach churning read that is full of intensity, emotion and the shock factor! I’m looking forward to taking a journey again with Detective Eden Berrisford!

Thank you for having me on the tour!
